Ashtavidha Pariksha: Eight Ayurvedic Methods of Clinical Examination (Part 2 of 2)

Webinar with Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc April 14 and 15, 2017
Ashtavidha Pariksha: Eight Ayurvedic Methods of Clinical Examination (Part 2 of 2)
Did you know that just by listening carefully to a person, you can hear the qualities of vata, pitta and kapha? Or that, like the tongue, by knowing the eyes completely you can know the whole body? Or that every disease has a typical akruti or clinical appearance through which it can be recognized immediately?

Ayurveda’s sophisticated system of wisdom elaborates the definition of the disorder and unique classification of imbalance, which helps in understanding the prognosis of the disease. The ashtavidha pariksha, the eight limbs of clinical assessment – nadi, mutra, mala, jihva, shabda, sparsha, drig and akruti, gives us more detailed perception about the disease.

Building upon the foundation laid in the first of this two-part online webinar, Vasant Lad BAM&S, MASc, will introduce us to the final four of the eight ashtavidha pariksha: shabdha (listening to bodily and vocal sounds), sparsha (touch), drig (examination of the eyes) and akruti (the patient’s overall appearance and gait).
